First flowers to the rose sapling planted with garlic for protection
The first monsoon was relaxed and we could enjoy the virgin land. This monsoon brought with it, tons of work! Since we hadn't had the time to make the soil, the fertilizer (Cowmanure and sugar baggase compost) was brought in.
We had planned the varieties of saplings we wanted to plant in the monsoon. We searched the sources for the same from friends and the net and bought almost all the fruits and flowering plants. As with most villages, labour was very very difficult to find and we ended up planting most of the plants/trees ourselves with the help of the caretaker. Our kids lent their small helping hands too...thus, the planting was done.
The coconut in the hammock area...
The first Rajnigandha bloom!
The chilly saplings ready to be planted
Beans between Poona Anjeer (The Anjeer was planted too close by mistake)
The very first tomatoes (We succumbed to the temptation and made chutney of the raw tomatoes)
The landscape also called for some hardscaping work done (with our own planning, since we, again, did not have the 'budget' to hire a proper landscaper who would design as per our requirements) and thankfully, got some help for the stone work. We had abundant stones in the dry land that we had which came in very useful here and we did not need to buy any stones/rocks for the landscape...
The sit-out in progress
The steps leading to the fruit plantation
The pathways at NR
The entrance path being made...
Now, NR is taking shape as we want it to...the plants are growing nicely and gotten over after solving 'The-case-of-the-chomping-caterpillars'. Keeping fingers crossed now...
The site today...
